I am certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor Level I and Level II. I have studied yoga since 1987 and have taught since 1995. The first time I stepped into a yoga class, in Brookline, Massachusetts, I was hooked, and began taking two to four classes a week. Each time a workshop came to town, I was there. I then went to Kripalu center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Ma., for a intensive training, and the following year I signed up for the Kripalu teacher training program, passed it, and became a certified Kripula teacher.
My body was craving a deeper practice, which led me to the Iyengar tradition, developed by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar. Iyengar yoga emphasizes correct alignment of all parts of the body within each yoga pose. This precision builds strength, stamina, balance, flexibility and a new sense of well-being. During this time, I was also led to study Ashtanga yoga, a powerful and muscularly challenging meditative postural-flow based on the teachings of K. Pattabhi Jois.
As life has it, Vishuna, Pattabhi Jois’s nephew, came to the Boston area, and for several months I took daily classes with him. Later, I studied with him and Pattabhi Jois for three months in India.
In 1994 I moved to Cleveland Ohio and continued to study Asthanga with Manjui Jois (Pattabhi Jois’s son) and the Iyengar yoga with senior teachers Patricia Walden, Manouso Manos and Laurie Blakeney.
In 2016 I became certified in the Iyengar tradition, and in 2018-2019 I completed an Iyengar Theraputic training with Manous Manos. I continue to study with senior teachers and Abhijata Iyengar, B.K.S. Iyengar’s granddaughter.
My classes are small and intimate creating a safe place to dive deeper into your own experience of yoga.
