Gentle Yoga Classes with Kathryn (Kathy) DeFreitas

Kathryn (Kathy) DeFreitas, Yoga Teacher ERYT500 , Certified MELT Instructor classes, have a soft healing energy using soothing postures for low back, neck, and shoulders. She finds it most rewarding that in her classes, her students love to relax, close their eyes and go within their own bodies while following their breath.  This enables them to release tension in these areas by increasing oxygen flow with internal focus.

Kathy believes that moving into the parasympathetic nervous system is the beginning for true healing on so many levels.

Myofascial yoga using balls and rollers

9:00 – 10:00 am Healthy Bones, Healthy Bodies!
Gentle moving of all the joints in the body for health and vitality.

10:30 – 11:45 am Gentle MELT Method for Seniors
Myofascial Yoga, relieving stress using the soft roller.

3:30 – 4:45 pm Flow for All Ages – Sivananda Style
Flow movement focus on strength and stamina.

Small Personalized Classes Offered

GENTLE YOGA OVER 50
A calm stress-relieving yoga class to stretch and strengthen the body gradually. Emphasis is on gentle movement of the breath and the body. Postures are practiced at a slower pace with attention to alignment and detail. Recommended for those students that are over 50 looking for a soothing, relaxing, and restorative experience. If you are new to yoga or working with special concerns or injuries, this is a perfect class to try.

GENTLE MYOFASCIAL YOGA
Designed for my students who have taken my MELT introduction class. We work with soft balls and rollers to hydrate the connective tissue which helps to release stuck stress and tension in the body. Ideal for students who are experiencing some aches and pain due to age or repetitive habits.

YOGA FOR JOINT HEALTH
Designed to keep the energy (or Chi) moving in the body by focusing on all of our joints from ankles to neck. Healthy joints is the key to longevity and we also focus on improving balance in this class. Most of the class is standing, but we sit on chairs for some of the breathing and gentle neck movements. A class for all ages especially those who want to improve their balance and joint health. So important as we age!

As you practice yoga and become mindful of not just your body, but also of your thoughts and emotions, you will become more connected to your environment, your community, and the world around you!
